Launch of Landhi Town WWN

 

The dialogue supported by GWP held on 20th April 2009 saw the formal launch of the Landhi Town WWN. The dialogue was attended by 60 women from all over Landhi and an Executive Committee elected:

  • v     President: Talat Yasmin

  • v     General Secretary: Badar-un-Nisa

  • v     Programme Secretary: Razia Sultana

  • v     Treasurer: Farah Khan

  • v     Coordinator: Shabana Tahir

The first Executive Committee meeting was held at this occasion to develop future Town action plans and orient and familiarize the Landhi WWN members o their roles in IWRM, water and sewerage issues in relation to their locations and levels.

 

The Landhi AWP also had a soft launch at this dialogue. The immediate result of this being that Landhi WWN has already engaged the local town administration into action.  Landhi WWN has already collaborated with the local TMA to distribute KWP’s water conservation guidelines to all 52,000 households of Landhi through the town’s cleanliness campaign.

 

 

Launch of WWN Jamshed Town  

 

The event held under the GWP Supported Dialogues Programme was the launch of the Jamshed Town WWN on 18th May 2009 . This dialogue was attended by 32 women from all over Jamshed Town belonging to all strata of society.

 

The Executive Committee of the Jamshed Town WWN was formed as an official body to implement and execute Jamshed Town WWN activities and their role and responsibility towards promoting IWRM approaches in their town was also outlined: 

  • v     President: Safina Minhas

  • v     General Secretary: Noor-us-Sabah

  • v     Programme Secretary: Akhter Perveen

  • v     Treasurer: Mrs. Shagufta

  • v     Coordinator: Shazia Tabassum
